Calvary Chapel began in 1965 as a single church. God began a great work among the youth of California at that time and thousands of people began coming to Christ, many through the ministry of Calvary Chapel. This  revival spread across the United States and beyond and became known as "The Jesus Movement". Today Calvary Chapel has grown into a movement of more than 1500 affiliated churches in over 60 countries

In 1991 the Soviet Union fell, Ukraine gained its independence, and the door was opened to the gospel. Missionaries from the West responded to this great spiritual need. In 1992 George Markey moved to Kiev to share the good news of Jesus and started the first Calvary Chapel in Ukraine. Today there are around 21 Calvary Chapels in Ukraine (including our own) and it is continuing to grow.

Structurally all Calvary Chapels are independent affiliates, believing that church government should be simple rather than a complex bureaucracy or hierarchy, and that the Holy Spirit should govern the church. Calvary Chapel has much diversity in style but is unified on these things:
  • Our supreme desire is to know Christ and be conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.
  •  The only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ's agape love, which is greater than any differences we possess, and without which we have no right to call ourselves Christians.
  •  The worship of God should be spiritual. Therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.
  •  The worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, music plays an important part in our worship.
  • The worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, in our services we emphasize the teaching of the Word of God.
  •  The worship of God should be fruitful. Therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation of true worship.
